Welcome to my website!!

My name is Harry Gatsby otherwise now known as “The Grape Gatsby.”

While I do not claim to be an expert on wines and/or viticulture, over the years I have accumulated a fair amount of knowledge about the subject. What I do not know about the subject, I research myself by talking to expert wine makers, vineyard workers. food industry people, and simply ask friends and friendly wine and food lovers to share their knowledge with me. And in turn I will share and encourage you to share that knowledge with our friends on this site.

My goal is to use our collective knowledge and experiences to help each of us to distill that collective knowledge and experience so that we can make informed decisions about what wines to drink, food to eat in combination with those wines, and importantly, in finding unique and interesting places that provide those earthly pleasures that ultimately will create memorable experiences now and in the future in the re-telling about those experiences to friends and family.

My goal is also to try to simplify the experience of choosing wines and food because common sense tells us that we all have individual tastes, likes and dislikes, and making wine drinking and food pairing an elitist pastime diminishes and detracts from the positive experience that it should be.

So let me close for now and say, I look forward to going on this journey with all of you and trust that together we will experience what in Italian expresses my ultimate goal for me and you: To experience “la dolce vita,” “the sweet life.”
